2025 Reflection: A year of holding my ground

Marisa on a mountain taking a break from a strenuous climb

Honestly, this year knocked me down.

More than once. Personally, professionally, emotionally… There were mornings I didn’t want to teach, months that went from the extremes of dry to chaotic, and plenty of moments when I wondered if Rising Legacy was meant to shrink instead of shine.

2025 was a year of being tested and pushed out of my comfort zone.

We watched the world shift around us – politically, socially, economically. Whole industries shook. DEI budgets got cut and eliminated. Many of you told me 2025 stretched you in ways you didn’t ask for. Same here, hermana.

But every time I felt like the wind got knocked out of me, I got back up a little clearer.

Here’s what I know about us: We keep rising.

You inspire me! You showed up for workshops. You shared your stories. You asked sharper questions. You invested in your growth even when life asked you to contract. You kept choosing leadership, and you didn’t wait for permission or a title.

As I was reflecting on the year, I wanted to call out a few themes that kept weaving through everything we created:

Finding and owning your voice

Our voices are shaped by our culture, our values, our experiences… I truly believe that when we acknowledge these things (our identity!), it helps us find our voice and brings more depth and confidence to our leadership practice.

Advocating for your career

You are responsible for your career growth and development. No one else. Learning to advocate for yourself and promote your accomplishments can feel uncomfortable first, but it’s about building muscle — having the courage to name your impact and move your career forward in ways that feel authentic and purposeful.

Building a circle of support

Leaders, if I can leave ONE lesson with you from this year, it’s that you should not ever feel like you’re leading alone. I’m glad we took the time to talk about strengthening our support systems and leaning into connection that helps us lead stronger and steadier.

As an entrepreneur there will always be uncertainty to navigate, as we head into 2026, I AM certain about these things:

We’re still learning.

We’re still rising.

We’re stronger than ever.

And we are absolutely charging forward.

So while 2025 isn’t coming to an end with a tidy bow, it’s closing with resolve. And that just might be the better gift. I’m taking some time off for the holidays, but I’m truly optimistic about our next chapter… I have a few ideas brewing that I can’t wait to share with you.

Grateful to have you along for the journey.

Lead the way,
